Wooden Windows – Made in Boston & Made for Boston
Replacing your windows with wooden windows is what we think one of the best decisions you will ever make. Double glazed wooden windows not only add value to your home they also give your home that special character and soul that many modern homes lack.
You may also be surprised to learn that wooden windows actually retain heat far better than metal or Upvc windows as timber does not conduct heat in the same way that aluminium does. Just touch aluminium or Upvc window frames from the interior on a cold day, it will be very cold as the outside temperature conducts straight through!
Did you know that steel conducts heat/cold more than ice? Just climb an aluminium ladder on a winter’s day without gloves and you will know what we are talking about.
Timber on the other hand does not conduct heat/cold with anywhere near the power of metal. For this reason we would only ever recommend double glazed wooden windows.
You may now be thinking about the cost? Well you will be pleasantly surprised to find out that here at The Wooden Window Workshop our prices for wooden windows in London compared to that of Upvc or Aluminium is more or less the same!
In addition to this have you ever heard how difficult it is to carry out repairs and maintenance on Upvc windows? Near on impossible.
For this reason the windows you replace today (assuming that they are Upvc) will probably last up to 25 years and then they will need to be replaced, with the old ending up as landfill.
Still not convinced about timber windows?
Wooden windows on the other hand can, with the right care and maintenance, last hundreds of years and are easy enough to maintain by even the most novice of DIY’ers.
We regularly provide workshops for our clients and DIY enthusiasts on the maintenance of wooden sash windows and casement windows, just call us for the next date coming up.
